There are numerous health benefits of dried and dry fruits

We see a lot of people around us who follow a morning ritual to maintain a healthy life-style. Some people enjoy brisk walks in the morning while some like to practise yoga or engage in morning exercise to keep themselves fit and healthy. And there are some people who love soaked dry/ dried fruits in the morning. That is the first thing they eat when they wake up. Today, I’m going to talk about how consuming soaked dry/ dried fruits can help maintain a healthy and happy life. There is a slight difference between dry fruit and dried fruit. Dry fruits include cashew nuts, walnuts, almonds and pistachios, whereas, natural fruits that have been naturally dried are called dried fruits, for example, raisins, dried cherries, figs, and so on.

Health benefits of dried and dry fruits:

There are several health benefits of dried fruits. Vitamin A and Vitamin C are helpful in delaying the onset of cataracts. These vitamins take care of our eye health. The high fibre content of dried fruits helps to prevent constipation and many other health problems. Iron is an important nutrient for pregnant women. Iron is found in dates, nuts and dried figs. Dried fruits are a good source of vitamin A which aids in the growth of the baby’s teeth and bones. Thus, dried fruits are essential for healthy pregnancy. They are rich in vitamin D and calcium which help to keep our bones strong and healthy. 

We get benefits from dry fruits as well. Dry fruits are rich in antioxidants. Some dry fruits also help to slow down the process of ageing and sharpen the mind. Raisins and prunes are rich in iron which helps to prevent anaemia. Dry fruits contain vital nutrients like vitamin K, A and vitamin B and also include minerals like iron, copper and magnesium as well as unsaturated fats that help the body to produce new red blood cells. Dry fruits, when taken in moderation, help in reducing weight. They include proteins, potassium, calcium and essential oils and are low in fat, sugar and carbs. Dry fruits also aid in stimulating slow metabolism. So, people who have slow metabolism rate, often face problems in reducing body weight. They can include dry fruits in their regular diet in order to reduce weight. They help to boost our immunity. The antioxidants in dry fruits help the body to fight against infections and diseases. 

Instructions:

 All you need is a handful of dry/ dried fruits and a glass of water and be consistent in your practice. Your body will thank you later once you incorporate this into your daily routine. Soaking them overnight helps you get their maximum benefits. The dry/ dried fruits that are needed to be soaked overnight are as follows:

10/12 cashew  nuts

6/8 almonds

5/6 walnuts

7/8 raisins

Soak them in a glass of water and keep it overnight. Drink this water and eat all soaked fruits in the morning on an empty stomach.

Cashews are a good source of dietary fibre. They are rich in healthy fats, protein and antioxidants such as polyphenols. Cashews help to reduce bad cholesterol. Owing to their high magnesium content, cashews may help to prevent heart disease. Also the magnesium in cashew nuts aids in reducing the risk of stroke. In comparison to other common snacks, cashews are low in carbohydrates which help to prevent diabetes. They help improve our digestive system,too,  and assist in regulating healthy bowel movements.

 Soaked almonds are rich in vitamin B, magnesium and healthy fats. They are packed with nutrition, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. Almonds can benefit our health, skin and hair. Soaked almonds are more beneficial for health as soaking helps to activate the nutrients in them, thereby reducing their anti-nutrient levels. They aid in improving digestive health. Almonds boosts metabolism which reduces the risk of obesity and helps in weight loss. Almonds are rich in vitamins E and B6, which help to preserve memory, thereby improving the function of the brain. Almonds help to prevent heart diseases as they are good sources of plant protein, magnesium and potassium. These minerals may help to control blood pressure. Walnuts are great for the function of the brain. Vitamin E, good fats help to promote memory function and reduce the stress levels. They promote healthy skin and strengthen our hair. Eating soaked walnuts reduces the bad cholesterol in the body, it becomes easier to absorb the nutrients from soaked walnuts. They also help in regulating sugar levels.  

Raisins are a good source of essential nutrients and minerals. They are packed with energy and fibre. They are naturally sweet and high in calories and sugar, but are beneficial for health when consumed in moderation. Raisins are beneficial for those who have deficiency of iron. The copper present in raisins helps in the production of red blood cells. Raisin water helps to keep the heart healthy and acts as a blood purifier. Since raisins are loaded with fibre, having soaked raisins helps to cure constipation and regulate the bowel movements. Raisins contain a high amount of calcium and are rich in micronutrients. Eating soaked raisins helps to keep the bones strong and healthy. Raisins have antibacterial properties, too. They help to maintain oral hygiene and prevent bad odour. Raisins are rich in vitamin B and C. These vitamins help to strengthen our immunity system, thereby preparing the body to fight against infections. Raisins contain natural fructose and glucose which provide a high amount of energy to the body. People who want to gain weight can eat raisins, but in moderation.
