Indian Chicken Soup

Indian Chicken Soup is one of the healthiest and most delicious soups that must be added to your regular diet. In this post, learn how to make Indian chicken soup in a simple way at home. Chicken soup can be prepared in many ways but this recipe is simple and easy to make and has several health benefits.

Most of the time, we see that children do not like to eat vegetables. So, if you add veggies to your chicken soup, children will definitely enjoy it because of the sour taste of lemon juice, the aroma of ghee and the hot and spicy taste of the black pepper powder.

The list of ingredients looks like there are so many things to be added. But once you start making it, it takes really less time to prepare. The ingredients required for Indian Chicken Soup are mentioned below:

Ingredients:

  • 250 gm bone-in chicken (cut into pieces)
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 1 carrot (diced)
  • 1 cup of sweet corn
  • 1 potato (cut into small cubes)
  • A handful of peas
  • 1 cup of any vegetables like cabbage, cauliflower
  • 1 tbsp ginger (finely chopped)
  • 1 tbsp garlic (finely chopped)
  • 3 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp ghee or butter
  • 1 inch cinnamon
  • 2 cardamoms
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 4-5 black peppercorn
  • A pinch of black pepper powder
  • Salt as needed

Instructions:

Tear the bay leaf into pieces and break the cinnamon and cardamoms and add them to a cooker. Add the black peppercorn. Next, add the chicken piece and 2 to 3 cups of water to the cooker. Add salt as required. Pressure cook for 2 to 3 whistles or boil until the chicken is tender. The chicken stock is ready. Set the chicken aside and shred the meat from the bones and discard them. Next, add 2 cups of water and strain the chicken stock to the pan  and boil all the veggies like potatoes, carrots, peas, cauliflower, onions over medium flame. Add salt according to taste. You can also use a pressure cooker to boil veggies and cook for 2 to 3 whistles. Check the vegetables if they are soft. Taste and adjust the salt.   

How to prepare chicken soup: Heat a pan with ghee or butter and saute ginger and garlic for a minute. Add the shredded chicken and boiled vegetables. Turn off the stove. Once the chicken and the veggies cool down, squeeze in the lemon juice and add some black pepper powder. You can add a teaspoon of ghee on top of the soup. It will give the soup a nice aroma and will enhance the flavour of it as well. Serve hot! So, you must try this Indian Chicken Soup and enjoy it at home with your family and friends.
